The founder of Third Floor Software worked for many years in partnership with other consultants designing custom software for large and small companies. Third Floor Software was created to leverage this breadth of experience to deliver high quality database projects.

Thomas Mostek

Tom Mostek is the Solutions Architect at Third Floor. Tom is an engineer by training, with knowledge of low level hardware issues and design choices. This is balanced by his interest in large-scale systems and how software with work practices can help meet business goals. This combination has enabled him to develop expertise in systems design, software methodology, physical database implementation, and performance tuning.

Tom enjoys developing in a rapid prototype environment, but fully understands and incorporates the rigor of large software development projects. He has a breadth of industry experience and has led teams in defense contracting (aerospace), banking, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, supply chain management, personalized marketing, and non-profit operations. Tom holds degrees from Lehigh University (B.S. Computer Engineering) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.S. Electrical Engineering). He spent four years as a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate at Northwestern University, where he did research in Artificial Intelligence (computer vision and analogical reasoning).
